Kita Kannon Yama (北観音山) pullerPosted by MShades (Kyoto, Japan) on 16 September 2008 in People & Portrait. Almost done, man. Almost done. Kita Kannon Yama has a friendly rivalry with its neighbor, Minami Kannon Yama. For a few centuries, the two would appear in alternate years, and only started appearing together in the 19th century. They use special pine trees from the north of Kyoto for their mast, and draw lots to decide which one will get which pines.
