Koi Yama (鯉山)Posted by MShades (Kyoto, Japan) on 12 September 2008 in People & Portrait. "I am a serious boy and this is my serious face." Koi Yama apparently has the most expensive tapestries in the entire parade. They're reproductions of 16th century Belgian tapestries, which accounts for their unusually European style. This is also the only float to feature a non-human subject, referring to the ancient legend that a carp will become a dragon if it can successfully swim up they Ryumon Waterfall. To my knowledge, no carp has yet been successful....
