Shijokasa Boko (四条傘鉾) boyPosted by MShades (Kyoto, Japan) on 25 August 2008 in People & Portrait. This kid was practicing his pen-twirling with his drumstick. Not bad, either. Shijokasa Boko is another one that vanished for a while. it was gone for 117 years, and returned to the Festival in 1987 thanks to the efforts of the Mibu Rokusai Nenbutsu - a traditional performing group based in my neighborhood. It's small but beautiful, and the bearers are wearing the most interesting costumes.
